Our Mission
Here you will find general
information on the Holocaust 1933-1945, as well as the written testimony of
nineteen Holocaust Survivors who live in Western New York. Oral testimony
videotapes of the nineteen Survivors and written biographies of each Survivor
are available for classroom use. These tapes were made as part of the HRC's
Distance Learning Course, which was funded by grants from Bell Atlantic and a
memberline grant from the New York State Assembly.
The Holocaust
Resource Center of Buffalo is a non-profit agency that deals primarily in
helping educate the community of Western New York
State on the Holocaust
1933-1945.
It
is the mission of the Holocaust Resource Center of Buffalo to:
-
Teach the lessons
of the Holocaust
-
Remember the
victims of the Holocaust
-
Honor the
Survivors of the Holocaust
with a
special eye towards serving the community of Buffalo
and the
Western New York area.
The HRC is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of
Greater Buffalo and is also
funded by private donations and membership dues. We believe that the programs
and workshops that we provide community members, students and teachers in our
area keeps the message of the Holocaust alive. With each program we strive to
bring the lessons of the 6 Million victims down to an understanding of each and
every victim as a person - as an irreplacable human life. The truism that:
"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" is essential to our mission.
We strive to promote the message that we must Never Forget the lessons, the
victims, and the Survivors of the Holocaust.
